Privacy Policy — Android

This policy covers Sayt for Android, distributed through Google Play. The iPhone version is covered by a separate policy; the two differ only in how the platform handles backups and payments.

1. Information we collect

None. Sayt has no user accounts, no sign-up, and makes no network requests to transmit your information. We operate no server that receives your data, so there is nothing for us to collect, store, sell or disclose.

We cannot see your projects, photos, notes, measurements or reports. We do not know how many projects you have created, or whether you use the app at all.

2. Information stored on your device

Everything you create in Sayt is written to Sayt's private internal storage, which Android makes readable only by this app:

• Projects, site visits, observations and issues
• Photos you capture or import, and any annotations you add
• Measurements, floor plans and pin locations
• Checklists, scheduled visits and generated reports
• Your professional profile — name, profession, licence number and logo — used only to brand your reports

Other apps cannot read this storage, and it is removed by Android when you uninstall Sayt.

3. Backups and transferring to a new phone

Android offers two different ways to move app data. Sayt treats them differently on purpose, and the difference matters to your privacy.

• Google Drive cloud backup — nothing is included. Sayt is configured to exclude its database, photos, files and settings from cloud backup entirely. None of your site data is uploaded to Google's servers by this app.
• Direct device-to-device transfer — included. When you set up a new phone and transfer directly from your old one, Sayt's database, site photos, floor plans and branding images travel across that direct link so your site archive is not lost. Generated reports and staged handoff files are excluded because the app can recreate them.

Device-to-device transfer applies on Android 12 and later. On Android 11 and earlier the platform cannot separate the two mechanisms, so Sayt excludes everything and neither cloud backup nor direct transfer carries your data.

The transfer is performed by Android between two devices you control. We are not a party to it and receive nothing from it.

Because cloud backup is deliberately empty, your site photographs exist only on your phone. Export anything you cannot afford to lose.

4. App permissions

• Camera — to photograph the site and to measure distances. Images are written to Sayt's own private storage. They are never uploaded.
• Notifications — local reminders for site visits you schedule. These are generated on your device. We operate no push notification server, and Sayt is not registered for push messages.
• Alarms and reminders — so a scheduled visit reminder arrives at the time you set rather than whenever the system next wakes the app.

Sayt requests no storage permission. Importing an existing photo or floor plan uses the Android photo picker, which hands Sayt only the single image you chose and gives it no access to the rest of your gallery.

Each permission is requested at the moment it is needed, and Sayt continues to work without it — you simply lose that specific capability.

5. Location

Sayt requests no location permission of any kind and does not use your device's location. Any address attached to a project is text you typed yourself.

Photos you capture in Sayt are written without embedded GPS metadata.

6. Analytics, tracking and advertising

Sayt contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising and no third-party tracking libraries of any kind. Sayt does not request the Advertising ID permission, does not read your Advertising ID, and does not track you across apps or websites.

7. Sharing your data

Sayt never transmits your data anywhere. You can export a report, a photo archive or a visit file and share it using the Android share sheet — for example to Gmail, Drive, WhatsApp or Files. When you do this, the file goes directly from your device to the destination you choose. It does not pass through us.

Once you have shared a file, its handling is governed by the app or service you shared it through and by the recipient.

8. Purchases

Sayt Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It is processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play — we never see your card number or payment details, and no payment information is sent to us or stored in the app.

Sayt asks Google Play whether your account owns the purchase and stores only that yes/no answer on your device. If you reinstall Sayt or move to a new phone, Google Play restores the purchase to the same Google account at no extra cost.

Google's handling of your purchase is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.

9. Children

Sayt is a professional tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and we knowingly collect no information from anyone, of any age.

10. Deleting your data

Uninstalling Sayt permanently removes every project, photo, measurement and report it holds. You can also clear everything without uninstalling, from Android Settings → Apps → Sayt → Storage → Clear storage. Because none of it was ever sent to us, there is nothing further to request the deletion of.

Check that you have exported anything you want to keep before deleting the app. Deletion cannot be undone.

11. Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR, CCPA and the Philippine Data Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. Because we hold none, these are satisfied directly on your device: your data is already in your sole possession, exportable at any time, and deletable by removing the app.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date. Sayt's local-first design is fundamental to the product, so if we ever introduced a feature that transmitted data, it would be optional and clearly disclosed before you used it.

13. If you email us

The statements above concern the app itself, which sends us nothing. If you contact us by email — for support or any other question — then we necessarily receive your email address and whatever you write.

We use it only to reply to you. It is never sold, shared with anyone, or added to a marketing list. Ask us and we will delete it. Sayt for Android is distributed through Google Play, which is operated by Google under Google's Privacy Policy.

14. The feedback form

The website links to an optional feedback form covering what you do on site, how you got on with the app and what you would be willing to pay. It is entirely voluntary, it is not part of the app, and nothing in Sayt asks you to fill it in.

The form is hosted on Google Forms. If you open it, Google receives your IP address and processes your answers under Google's Privacy Policy. We do not embed it in this site, so that only happens if you deliberately follow the link.

The form does not collect your email address automatically. There is one optional field where you may give it if you want a reply; leave it blank and your answers reach us with nothing attached that identifies you. Responses are read only by us, are never sold or shared, and are used solely to decide what to build next. Email us and we will delete your response.
