How do I become a beta tester?

Sayt is in open beta on TestFlight — there is no invitation and no waiting list. Open this link on your iPhone:

You will need Apple's free TestFlight app installed first; the link will prompt you if it isn't. Requires iOS 17 or later. Testing costs nothing, we never see your email address, and you can leave at any time from inside TestFlight.

My TestFlight build stopped working

Beta builds expire 90 days after they are released. Open TestFlight and install the newest build — your projects, visits and photos stay on the phone and will still be there. If TestFlight says the beta is full or no longer accepting testers, email us and we will let you know when a place opens up.

Will I be charged for Sayt Pro during the beta?

No. In-app purchases made in a TestFlight build go through Apple's sandbox, so Pro unlocks for testing without any real payment. Nothing is charged to your card.

How accurate are the camera measurements?

They are digital estimates produced from your iPhone's camera using ARKit, and are shown with a ≈ marker for that reason. They are accurate enough to size an opening, scope a repair or brief a trade.

If your iPhone has a LiDAR scanner, Sayt uses it automatically and measures against a mesh of the real surface, which is noticeably more accurate on irregular surfaces. Without LiDAR it measures against detected flat planes, which is less reliable on rubble or rough render.

They are not survey-grade. Check critical dimensions with a tape before ordering material or cutting anything.

Can Sayt measure an area, not just a length?

Yes. Take one measurement, then keep going — each new line starts where the last one ended. Close the shape back on the first point and Sayt gives you the enclosed area as well as the individual sides. That is how you scope a patch of render or a section of floor without a tape.

You can also type a measurement in by hand when you already know the number, and switch between metric and imperial at any time.

How do I pin a photo to the floor plan?

Import the plan into the project — any PDF page or photo you can get onto the phone will do — then open a finding and tap the plan where the photo was taken. The pin can be moved until you save. Both the plan and the pin appear in the exported report, so the reader knows exactly which room, unit or corridor you meant.

How does the calendar work?

The home screen opens on a month view with every day you documented something marked. Tap a day to see what happened on it. You can also schedule your next visit — one-off, daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly — and Sayt will set a local reminder before you are due on site. Reminders are generated on your iPhone; nothing is sent to a server.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Sayt works entirely offline. There is no account and no sign-up, and your data never leaves your iPhone unless you export it yourself. The only time a connection is needed is to buy Sayt Pro, because that goes through the App Store.

What does the free version include?

Three projects with five visits each, and full access to photo capture, observations, issues, camera measuring, floor plan pins, checklists, the progress calendar and PDF reports.

What does Sayt Pro add?

Sayt Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks unlimited projects and visits, editable Word (DOCX) reports, removal of the report watermark, exporting and importing visit files, saving photos to your Photos library, and a recoverable Trash.

I bought Pro but it isn't showing

Open More → Sayt Pro and tap Restore. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID you purchased with. If it still doesn't appear, email us.

How do I share a visit with a colleague?

With Sayt Pro, open the visit and choose Share Visit File. That produces a single .saytpack file you can send by AirDrop, email or chat. Your colleague opens it in Sayt and it merges into their projects.

Can my team all see the same projects?

Not yet. Sayt is deliberately single-device and local-first, which is what lets it work with no signal. Sharing is done by sending visit files.

Will I lose my data if I change phones?

Your Sayt data is included in encrypted iPhone backups and in iCloud Backup, so restoring a new iPhone from a backup restores your projects.

Deleting the app deletes everything in it permanently, so export anything you need first.

How do I delete my data?

Sayt has no account, so there is nothing held anywhere to delete. Removing the app from your iPhone permanently erases every project, photo, measurement and report it holds. Export anything you want to keep first — deletion cannot be undone.

How do I report a bug?

Email us with what you were doing when it happened, your iPhone model and your iOS version. A screenshot or screen recording helps a great deal.
